The nine days of Navaratri are an auspicious time to honour Shakti or the Goddess and balance the feminine aspect of our lives through conscious intention, rituals, gifts, and food.
Irrespective of our gender, the feminine aspect is an integral part of our being.
Shakti or the feminine aspect exemplifies nurturance, positivity, creativity, flexibility, inner strength, healing, and compassion for all life.
Let’s explore how different aspects of our diet can support our Shakti or the ‘feminine’ element in our life this Navratri.
1) Activating our Cleansing Energy
Just like Navratri exemplifies purging all negativity, our bodies too cannot function optimally in the absence of a robust cleansing and detoxification process. Some symptoms of toxin overload include indigestion, acne, body odour, acidity and nasal congestion. Eating a fibre-rich whole foods diet and including astringent flavours and herbs like neem, turmeric, garlic, and leafy greens can help in clearing congestion and boosting a sluggish metabolism. You can also elevate your regular teatime into a time for cleansing by including ORGANIC INDIA’s Tulsi Green Tea Honey Lemon and Tulsi Green Tea Classic. Both are antioxidant-rich blends of powerful Tulsi and Green Tea which help to cleanse the digestive system, prevent inflammation and boost metabolism. These healing teas also additionally help enhance heart health, lower blood pressure, and protect you from chronic illnesses. The refreshing taste and aroma can help reduce stress and enhance your energy levels.
2) Nourishing deeply
The feminine aspect is the wellspring of nurturance and nourishment. Fats are an essential part of nourishing the body. Ayurveda recommends the consumption of cow’s ghee not only for nourishment at a cellular level but also as a powerful channel for delivering vital herbs and ayurvedic formulations deeper into our tissues. ORGANIC INDIA’s Organic Cow Ghee made from high-quality cow’s milk is rich in vitamins A, C, E, and K along with antioxidants and helps our body absorb vitamins and minerals better too. It is also a good source of Omega 3 & Omega 6 fatty acids that help in maintaining cellular health and give radiant supple skin.
3) Building our inner strength
Just like Goddess Durga symbolizes protection and strength, it’s important to strengthen our immune system to protect ourselves from illness. The last couple of years has alerted us to the never-ending threat of viruses and bacteria. A varied diet rich in healing herbs and fruits and vegetables is essential for boosting immunity. Also, Ayurvedic formulations like Chyawanprash are an excellent way to nourish our immune system and rejuvenate the entire body. Made with more than 38 antioxidant-rich wild healing herbs and fruits like the vitamin C-rich Amalaki, Chyawanprash fortifies our system from within, hastens wound healing, fights premature ageing, and supports digestion and absorption of nutrients.
4) Balancing with sweetness
Sweetness is an essential expression of the love and compassion of a mother. According to Ayurveda, sweetness in foods facilitates the flow of digestive enzymes, strengthens and, energizes the body, nourishes the mind, and enables bowel movement. But refined and processed foods, white sugar and artificial sweeteners increase inflammation and increase the risk of disease. It’s best to consume natural sweeteners like honey and jaggery. In fact jaggery helps regulate bowel movements, aids digestion and boosts immunity. Being naturally rich in vitamins, and minerals including iron, ORGANIC INDIA’s Jaggery Powder also helps prevent anaemia as well as aids in the purification of blood. Made from organically certified sugarcane, ORGANIC INDIA Jaggery Powder is free from harmful pesticides and chemical additives, ensuring you get a clean and healthy sweetener for your entire family.
5) Facilitating Creative expression
The feminine aspect is the foundation of creativity and imagination. You can nurture your creative expression through regular practice and the consumption of brain-friendly herbs like Brahmi and Ashwagandha. While Ashwagandha helps alleviate stress and restore natural vitality, Brahmi helps to enhance mental cognition, and boost memory and alertness. Also known as Gotu Kola, Organic Brahmi improves circulation to the brain and relieves venous insufficiency to enhance creative Intelligence and imagination.
